Introduction

New Horizons Home School Academy was established in 1994, and was founded on the principle that the educational experience of a child—any child—will be one of the most lasting influences in his or her lifetime.

If the home schooling concept is new to you, we want to assure you:  you have made a wise choice in looking into one of the fastest growing and most successful educational systems available to you and your child at this time.  We completely recognize that the successful education of a child is a family endeavor, and we respect it as such.

We know of no better way to introduce you to our school than to do so by way of our Statement of Principles and our Mission Statement, both of which follow.  Thank you for considering New Horizons Home School Academy as the provider of your child’s present and future academic needs.   We hope to be able to serve you, if not directly, then by indirectly guiding you toward an academic assistance program that more appropriately suits your needs.

Statement of Principles

At New Horizons Home School Academy, we believe that:

• Every student, irrespective of age, creed, race of socio-economic background, has the right to an affordable, quality education;

• A student has the right to study in a safe and sane environment, free of harassment and freed of the personality conflicts or personal favoritisms to which s/he is often exposed to in a public or other educational institution;

• Any student, given an environment which is conducive to study, given an appropriate gradient-of-study, and given personalized, caring attention, can and does thrive and is capable of excelling in academic endeavors;

• The enthusiasm which a child exhibits toward learning in his/her early, explorative years is precious, and that this same enthusiasm can and should be cultivated and built upon as the child continues to grow and learn.

• Education is a life-long adventure and, thus, that when superior study practices are learned early in life, the rewards of these practices will last a lifetime;

• Parents have the right to be intimately involved with their child’s education, and that they have the right to educate their child in their own home (or a home-like setting) regardless of their own educational background; and

• The family structure is and will continue to be the building block of society, and therefore, it cannot be subtracted from nor minimized within the composition of a child’s educational associations.

Mission Statement

New Horizons Home School Academy aspires to provide students of any age, creed, race or socio-economic background an academically superior home schooling environment with curricula designed not only to achieve excellence in study performance on a child-to-child basis but that also advances a love of and appreciation for scholarship.

We seek to make our home schooling program student-based, perpetually adjusting it to meet the needs of the individual student seeking educational enrichment.  It is our aim to reconcile our successes on our student’s accomplishments, and not our student’s triumphs or failures based on our enterprise.

And finally, New Horizons Home School Academy aspires to forward the principles set forth herewith in respect of each child’s individuality, and in recognition of the family structure of which the child is an inherent part.
